Vegas: is there a "global overlap" command?

When I drag and drop many clips into the time line in vegas 8, it woud
save a lot of time if there ws a command to automatically overlap each
clip for a certain duration so as to create a crossfade between all
the clips. Most clips in my videos have a basic crossfade
transition....then I can go back in and put in a few hard cuts here
and there. It is very tedious to go all the way through almost each
and every clip and drag to the left. Is there such a global function
    for this?

    Options - Prefs - Editing.
Select the "Automatically overlap multiple selected media when added"
    option.
The duration is determined by the "New still image length (seconds)" option.
Incidentally, I prefer to do any transitions when I'm editing, not shooting.
    YMMV.
