    Hi Guys

Sorry to bother you all with this and its probably been asked before.

In Vegas Pro 8 when I try to import a .mov file it tells me I don't
have the necessary Quick Time plugin. I have the latest version of QT
installed. I've looked all over the QT website and can't see anything
    relevant to what I want.

    Any help gratefully appreciated.

    Best regards

    Tony

Where did the file come from?
As with AVI , there are several "flavours" of QuickTime so knowing where
    it came from may help.

    Hi Mike
Sorry for being a bit dense here, not quite sure what you mean, if you
mean what was it shot on, it was an Olympus Digital camera Model no.
    C460.
    Many thanks for your reply.

    Best regards

Tony, the Canon site says the file is a QuickTime Motion JPEG.
While Vegas can load several flavours of MJPEG, this is obviously one
    that it can't ;-(
All I can suggest is to use a converter like Super© to do the
conversion to a more Vegas-friendly format.
You have to go through at least 3 pages to get to the dounload link so
    here's the direct link:

  5. Since that appears to be a still camera that also shoots video
as an "extra", it seems quite likely that it doesn't use a "standard"
codec for its MOV files. This is why Mike asked where the
file came from. All MOV files are not created equal (as is also
the case with AVI and other container file types.)

    1) Did you install all the software that came with the camera?
It is quite possible that installation of the software (even if you
don't use it) will also install the proper codec to read the MOV
    files from your camera.

    2) Did you try downloading the video using the software that
came with the camera? Does it offer any options for saving
the video files in different formats?

    Hi Mike
Many thanks for all the info, yes I've got a copy of Super @ I'll do a
conversion, I'm sure that'll do the trick.

Many thanks to everybody for their time and trouble.

    Best regards

Freeware like SUPER is very popular, I can see it on many websites, this is benefit from free. On the other hand, it is lack of support and weak stability, almost no upgrade for new hardware, like the video format for new iPhone 4G, I tried it but not work. And another disadvantage, those free program ignore user experience, I always couldn’t find the buttons I want. Then I found some tools on dvdtomobile.net, they are not free but, more professional, worth trying.
