Since yesterday the colors of my Powershot S20 (3 years old) are terrible.
Is it possible that the CCD is out of order?

It looks more like a special effect than a fault. I.m not familiar
with the S20, does it have an effect called something like "solarize"
or "posterize"? Is it turned on?

It looks more like a special effect than a fault. I.m not familiar
First I thaught the same. But also in auto-mode where you can not change
anything it appears. It appears also already on the lcd display.

Sure looks like a special effect is on.
If the camera has a reset button I'd try that.
If it has no reset button then try leaving the batteries out for a day.
If neither of those fix it then it's off to repair or a new camera.

  5. My wife has an S230. The effect in your photo is described in her manual as
a Photo Effect called Vivid. See if your manual has a section called Photo
Effect. If your model calls it something else, I am sorry to say I cannot
    suggest what to look for.

    Hi Paul!

This ist not a special effect. The S20 has no such effects.
    But:
After removing the backup batterie for a day it works fine!
Removing the normal batterie (I had tried it already) did not work.

    Thanks once more.
