I have an older vivitar series 1 70-210 zoom with a Yashica/Contax mount.
It is a great lens and has been used to take many pictures of the years.
Recently, the stopping down mechanism stopped working and I can see that the
brass bar that connects the outer stop down lever has come detached. Does
anyone know if there a repair manual available for this lens or an exploded
diagram of the Y/C mount? I am told that repairing the lens commercially
would be too expensive and more than the lens is worth, however, as I really
like the lens, I would like to repair it myself. No help at all from
    Vivitar :-(
    Thanks.

Try past auctions on eBAY, your local camera stores and KEH.
If you are trying to fix a value based on local values then ask a local
camera stores if you have any,
what they would pay to purchase the lens in good working order; then double
    that price.
