Can anyone recommend a good conversation recorder that I'll be able to buy
somewhere in the UK (Bristol area)? The range needs to be just a few feet.

Can anyone recommend a shop where these sorts of gadgets are sold?

  2. It depends on your needs: sound quality, recording time, etc. I've seen
them as low as $25 CAN but they only recorded about 90 min. I've bought a a
couple of them for about $60 CAN, both of which recorded up to 6 hours at
low-quality. The cheapest alternative remains a mini-cassette recorder, but
if you want to easily transfer the recording to a computer then a USB
connection or memory card is best. Once you decide what you want, I'd
recommend buying it on ebay for a huge saving, unless you're in a hurry.

Incidentally, many cellphones allow voice recording (depending on available
memory) and camcorders record sound better than any of the above
alternatives. You probably already own one of those, so you may not have to
    spend any money after all.
