    Hey guys!

I post here from time to time and I know this message isn't photography
related but I felt the need to let people know. Some of you may already be
aware of this, but I thought I'd give the heads up for those who don't....

I've been getting DOZENS of emails from "MS" or "Microsoft" or "internet
service" claiming that they're sending me a new security patch or something
like that both in my yahoo account and a personal account that I rarely use
only for here on the newsgroups.

Everyone of them have been viruses...

I heard that these people are hitting the newsgroups and getting your emails
from the various posts, thus sending everyone viruses and spam...

I guess it just goes to show that you're not safe no matter where you go.

I hope this benefits some of you.

Personally, this last week is the worst it's ever been. I'm getting 30 - 40
a day, usually 150kb .exe files. I'm well protected, but it's such a boring
    pain in the derriere

What's the best way to deal with this? Is it ever going to stop? I don't
want to have to change my email address or stop using the NG. What to
    do????
I have been getting about 300 a day.

use a separate emailaddress (yahoo is less spammy then hotmail) for all
news activity, if you happen to be spammed in the way you are (300mails
per day), then simply change address.
also try to add words into your emailadress, for example
    ,
    .

its quite easy for a humen to understand what to remove but harder for a
    application that scans for emailadreses.

Thanks, I think I may have a handle on it now, but we'll see. I dont' use
yahoo or hotmail and I have already had to change my address once, don't
really want to do it again if you know what I mean, such a hassle it is. Oh
    well. Thanks again.

Hi Folks, this is a killer little app. You can look at your messages
STILL on the server and delete them there so they never reach your
email box. some of these .exe worms can engage as soon as you click
    on the email subject. http://www.mailwasher.net/download.php
