Any ideas as to models of water resistant digicams that might be getting
ointo the s/h or ebay market, and cheapish...? It's for a kayaking trip and
I don't really want the bulk of my housed Nikon film setup, and don't really
want to risk my d70 in one of those "plastic bag" setups...

I was looking at the Pentax Optio 33WR and the Sony DSC-U60, but neither of
them take CF and that'd be one of my criteria also, as I have a fair bit of
CF and don't really want to invest in another format just for the occasional
    kayak trip.

Anyway, needless to say if anyone has one for sale that fits the bill, ping
me and maybe we can do a deal :)

    TIA

i have seen a camera.....i think it was a canon G# or G$ and there was an
    underwater housing made for it

the housings are not cheap but......they went for a few hundred i
think......and the camera was about 1000

    HI All,
I beleive the ricoh Caplio 300G is the camera for the situation,
I have a friend that has the ricoh G4 and won't stop raving about it,
    found here
    http://www.ricoh.com.au/products/viewproduct.asp?productid=474&range=Digital&RangeID=10

an extract from the site here

"Ease of use in extreme conditions was a design priority with the Caplio
300G, so the shutter and other buttons are deliberately large enough to be
operated in various conditions, even with gloves or goggles on. The
frequently used functions are positioned independently for convenient use.

The Caplio 300G is designed to float and can be used underwater for a period
of 30 minutes to a depth of one metre. In addition to the built-in flash
with red-eye reduction, an accessory shoe for an external flash is also
    available. "

    Thanks
    Doc

Not sure of the details, but Domayne/Harvey Norman were recently advertising
a kit of a Coolpix in a water resistant housing on "special".....don't know
if that would be of interest to you?
