What are MTF ratings?

    Looking at lenses and find there are MTF ratings, such as on Photodo.
    What do the numbers mean? Are lower numbers "better quality" than
    "higher numbers"? (like is 3.3 better than 4?)

    Other info would be helpful.

    No, as far as I know, the higher the better.
