    What format is does WindoZe want for .ICO images?
    ICO. It is its own unique format.

    You can sometimes rename a BMP to ".ico," and some programs will work with it,
    kind of.

    But an .ico file is a proprietary format, it is not just a renaming of another
    format. Windows icons actually contain *many* images, at different sizes--not
    just one image.

    The best way to work with icons is to use a tool *made* for working on icons.
    There are many free and shareware icon editors for Windows--Icon Factory, Icon
    Forge, Axis Icons, and more. Just do a search at download.com or shareware.com;
    you'll find enough icon editor programs to choke a goat. :)

    Figures. I think I'll just drop the whole idea. WindoZe sucks.

    Don't give up; it's easy to create ICO files. I wrote a Photoshop File
    Format plugin that generates correctly formatted ICO files in any bit
    depth. Just create your image in Photoshop and save!
