I'm in the UK. Any recommendations where to buy a couple of 2GB SD
    cards?

I want a good price but these are more important:

    BRANDED MEMORY
I want reliability. (Not fake branded!)

    NOT SLOW SPEED
Might use in campact camera. Approx 100x. Don't need super fast.

    HASSLE FREE
Not a supplier which has no customer service or takes 5 days to despatch.

    INCLUSIVE PRICE
No extra charge for delivery or handling.

There are SD cards, and there are SDHC cards.

SD cards are limited to 2 GB. Anything over 2 MB must be in the new
SDHC format, which allows much greater capacity for data.

SD and SDHC cards are physically the same size, but SDHC cards are
electronically incompatible with devices that were originally designed
for SD. However, you can use SD cards without problems in most
devices that were designed for SDHC Cards.

  5. Actually they're electronically compatible, it's the driver firmware that
is different. SD-Card devices can often be flashed with new firmware to
make them accept SDHC. It's just a question of whether the manufacturer is
willing to produce an update. I managed to get an updated driver for my PDA
which now happily accepts SDHC cards when previously it wouldn't even
register the presence of an SDHC card in the slot.

  6. I would go to Asda or Tesco & buy whichever is cheaper.

ASDA and Tesco typically charge several times more than you pay at:
    http://www.7dayshop.com/

Even Costco usually cannot match 7dayshop.com's prices.

I was put off 7dayshop a few years ago when a Compact Flash card that I had
bought from them failed well before I would expect to it to do so. They
were no help and did not offer to replace it. I contacted the manufacturer
    and they replaced immediately.

7dayshop.com have moved on from the early days when they did have an
at least partly justified reputation for poor customer service. I had
some very slow deliveries. Like many others, I wasn't prepared to pay
extra for a "post next day" service that didn't consistently deliver
and I didn't like my credit card being charged for things that weren't
in stock and might arrive days or even weeks later.

But to be fair, all these concerns have been fully addressed and, in
2009, 7dayshop.com is about as reliable a supplier as you will find.

  10. This thread had led me to place an order for a couple of SD cards from
    them.

I had reservations about them a couple of years ago when I ordered
something (portable reflector) that was stated as being in stock - then
I was notified that it wasn't. 12 weeks later it arrived - only to be
not the one ordered. They asked me to send it back, and another three
weeks went by I got what I'd ordered!

I'd given up on them, but what gave them some credibility in my eyes was
the refunding of my postage costs for the returned item.

So now I buy the odd bits and pieces, providing the value is OK and I'm
    in no hurry.

  11. I got both cards today (24th) in separate envelopes. So no postage
    charges, no complaints.

    Well done 7dayshop!

    Thanks for letting us know.

There was a time when I had been so deeply disappointed with
7dayshop.com's service that I vowed never to order from them again.
But after many months, I relented.

I'm pleased that I did, because the company is a useful source of a
very wide range of items, and their service is now very reliable.

  13. Asda & Tesco prices for SD & SDHC cards actually go up and down more than
    Blackpool's Big Dipper.

I know. When ASDA/Tesco prices are at their lowest, they still seem
to charge twice as much as 7dayshop.com.

But I'm not worried, because it's your money. Not mine. ;-)
