Where to get broken 52mm filters?

Discussion in 'UK Photography' started by Julie Brandon, May 23, 2004.

  1. How do,

An unusual and cheeky request I know, but here goes...

....any ideas where I could lay my hands on two or three 52mm screw-type
filters, with broken/scratched glass such that they're unwanted, preferably
for next to nothing / postage costs? (Well they say if you don't ask you
    don't get!)

I've a few little optical projects I'm working on, on a practically zero
budget, and need just the metal holder/screw-in part of a few 52mm

Tried ebay without much luck, but not sure where else to look! Any advice
or pointers would be gratefully appreciated.

  2. Perhaps camera shops who take part-exchange might have some...

Julie, make the rounds of the camera shops and check out the bargain / junk
bins. You can often get "stuff" (and used filters are a common item) for a
    pound or so.

I've done some of my best shopping for filters (and camera grips) in the
    junk bins - LOL

    P.S. Love the hair!

  4. SRB Film service sell empty mounts for a few pence IIRC.

  6. Already had a hunt around before unfortunately.

I may go back to the local London Camera Exchange and ask around, as I seem
to recall that it may have been them that I got my 2nd hand benbo tripod
from very cheaply -- seem to have lots of stuff hidden away in the back if
    you ask.

You could try looking at a camera fair. They are often advertised in the
    classified section of AP.
Many stands have 'junk' boxes with misc. toot in them.
