    Hi Guys

Which camera shops do you recommend visiting in LA and Vegas. My interest is
in second hand Contax, Leica and Canon equipment. TIA

In L.A. area, Samy's, Calumet, Bel Air, Canoga Camera (San Fernando
Valley), Terry's (Long Beach), Silvio's (Torrance), Powell's (Pasadena)
and I'm sure many others are out there.

Samy's, Belair and Silvio's are well stocked. However if you want used
equipment call ahead to see what they have in stock (also there are several
Samy's in the LA-Santa Barbara axis of evil).

Don't forget that Santa Barbara is Brooks Institute country and will
have good photo supply stores including the opnes on campus.

I have to agree that the Samy's in Santa Barbara is well-stocked, very
clean, and an excellent selection of books. Calumet in Santa Barbara is
a bit smaller, has good used equipment, but not well-stocked. The
personnel at both stores are knowledgable, helpful, and very friendly.

Never have been to Bel Air...the name alone suggests the gear has a a
higher mark up...don't know for sure.

Claremont Camera (in Claremont, of course) went belly up. It's a small
store now selling a few items and making money printing 4X6. Guess the
owner didn't see the digital writing on the wall. About 5 years ago I
went into the store asking to see a digital camera...the salesman
snickered and said they might start selling them in 10 years. I got the
    last laugh.
