This camera has a setting for One Touch WB, but no instruction on how to use
it. Could someone please educate me on this. Thanks

    Hi Steve...

Sure, here we go. Not a D40; but another Oly that has the
    same feature.

Get to the mode menu; choose the picture tab; then WB.
Scroll down to the icon of a funny looking sorta monitor
with bars under it (the bottom one)

Select that one, and a 'blank form' with one touch wb for
    a taskbar will appear.

Zoom in on a gray card that's lit exactly as the picture
will be - make sure the card fills the entire viewfinder
and a little more - can't let the camera 'see' anything
    other than the card.

Then press OK, and you're done.

After you're done with that series of shots remember to
reset it back to something else :)

    Take care.

    1) Get a piece of white cardboard or paper and put it where you
subjects will be located. The white board must be illuminated by the
same light that will be illuminating your subjects.

    2) Bring the white board into focus with your camera so it fills the
entire viewfinder. Don't let your shadow fall on the white board.

    3) Press the WB button.

    4) Reset to auto-WB after you finish with that particular lighting
    situation.
