who photographed the guy sticking a flower in the rifle of MPs?

  1. It's a fairly famous photograph, black and white, and it shows about a dozen
MPs armed with rifles, and one guy in a light colored sweater sticking
daisies into the ends of the rifles.

I have a print of it, signed by the photographer, 8/70. I can't make out
the name of the photographer. I think the first name is Bernie, and the
last name looks like Boston or Bostow or Bootow or something. I've done a
fair amount of searching on google and I couldn't find anything.

    Can anyone help?

French photographer Marc Riboud, now in his 80s, shot what was, to me, the
more memorable version of this photograph, which was a young women sticking
a flower into a bayoneted rifle.

The one you are thinking of was a picture called "Flower Power" by Bernie
Boston, also taken in 1967. I don't know which picture was published first.

I took a similar photograph in 1968 in, I think it was San Francisco, but I
no longer have it. In fact, I am not even sure it was 1968. Mine was not a
very memorable picture and it was unimportant to me. After all, it had
already been done, at least twice, by far more competent people. Come to
think of it, I don't have a single photograph that I took during that era or
before. I think my mother threw them all out.
