I've noticed on many shows on HGTV and DIT Network that they diitally block up
paintings hanging in the homes so you can't recognize them. Is there some
copyright Nazi causing a stink of the casual pickup of these images?????????

  3. Because paintings (and photos, etc.) are protected by copyright and
the production company was unable to obtain a release from the
copyright owner (not the homeowner) at a price they wanted. The
Copyright Police is the rights owner themselves. If they see their work
on TV and the producer doesn't have permission/release, then the
    level of stink starts rising.
