Will D lenses work with Nikon D70?

I'm really intrigued by the new D70 but wondered what the differences are
between Nikon's DX series lenses and the plain D series. Will the D series
work on the new D70? Also, what about the SB-28 flash? Will that work on
the D70, or should it be replaced the i-TTL SB-800? Thanks...

AF and AF-S "D" lenses will work jsut fine on the D70, albeit with a 1.5X
    crop factor.

The SB-28 will work as well, it just does not support the i-TTL features.

Thanks for the info, Lung. Do the DX series lenses have a 1.5 crop factor
also or only the D lenses? I thought I read that the 18-70 DX is equivalent
to 27-105 35mm. I'm glad to see that Nikon hasn't totally abandonded
support for the huge base of older lenses & flashes already in the field,
though the i-TTL feature would make me want to upgrade my flash pretty
    quickly.

Oh, there is still the crop factor with the DX series lenses. They are
just optimized for the smaller image circle of the DX sensor (so they will
vignette on a 35mm film body). The 27-105 equivalent range is correct for
this lens. I do have the 18-70 DX lens and it is fantastic. The only
downside is that it is not useable on my Nikon film bodies.

The SB-800 looks fantastic. I may trade in some old flash units towards
    the purchase of it.

I think it's worth the extra $300 to get the 18-70DX in the D70
package...but then comes the hard part of convincing my wife I "need" the
    SB-800. :)

All lenses on the D70 will have a 1.5x crop factor compared to a 35 mm film
    body.

The SB-28 will only work in A or M modes. To have any TTL compatibility, you
will need at least the SB-28DX. Though I would recommend the SB-800 if you want
    any kind of consistency.

  7. As far as i know the only two flashes that will work properly on the
D70 are the SB600 and SB800. These two support i-ttl. The D-70 does
not support D-TTL which the 28dx, 50dx and 80dx have.

  8. All AF, AF-D, AF-S, and AF-G lenses will work with the D70. The DX lenses
will also work -- it's just the film bodies that don't support them.
