Window XP Movie Maker and Video CD

Discussion in 'Amateur Video Production' started by Richard B. Wright, Oct 8, 2003.

  1. Greetings:

I hope that I'm in the right place for this question. I've created a movie
using MS Movie Maker in Windows XP and store it on a cd. The problem is the
video cd will not play in my dvd player! Any help, ideas, and/or
    suggestions will be gratefully appreicated.

    TIA,

    Rick

It doesn't sound like you "authored" a video cd but rather that you copied
some files. Copying alone won't work the VCD or SVCD has to be in a format
that the DVD player can recognize. And I believe that some DVD players
(perhaps the older ones) won't recognize a VCD or SVCD so you should check
    that out also.

You might try the newsgroup: microsoft.public.windowsxp.moviemaker

Moviemaker will not make VCDs. It will not produce the correct mpg file to
    be able to make one.

    Check on msnews.microsoft.com
    microsoft.public.windowsxp.moviemaker

I think there is a web site called papajohn.com which one of the guys on
that newsgroup runs. It has a great rundown on the program.

    Also, dvdrhelp.com
