Checked out the entire jessops empire for a mk1 28-105 3.5/4.5 eos ef lense.
first shop i rang coudn't figure out if they had it in stock or not
regardless of me offering them the exact sort code.

2nd one said yes they had one call back in 20 mins. called back, yes we
have sorted it. 1 week later. Still not turned up. then a phone call "why
haven't you collected your BRAND NEW LENSE?"

me: "1. Cos i ordered your second hand one and
    2. cos you were supposed to ship it to my store.

Shall i walk round and get it? "

"no cos we lent it to a customer whilst his is being fixed."

    me: "groan!"

Anyway 5 more days pass and

me: "hello has it come back yet."

"yes are coming to get it then?"

thinks hmm shipping is another 3 days minimum

    me:"yes i will walk up"

When i get there there is no box and manual. condition 1 is mint condition
WITH BOX AND MANUAL otherwise it is automatically condition 2. which is
    10% off mint price.

me: "its got no box so it aint mint"

"well if you don't want it dont buy it"

me: "okay i'll see if my guvnor will adjust the price"

get it back and they ask for the transfer note.

    me:"what note?"

guv: "if it aint got a note then it officially doesn't exist so we can't
sell it to you without upsetting the stock computer"

So telephone calls and faxes later finally sorted out.

£98.80 to a humble staff member. Retail price was £180. Now for a filter
or two. STock computer says we have two. Physical check = 0.

    How scary is that!

  2. Not too scary - unless it's oxygen bottles and you are on the space
