    MINI-DV camcorder...
Any thoughts on where I could look for a used one? (Not Ebay!)

I'm looking for a miniDV like the Sony Trv-22 or the JVC GRDVM50. Any help
would be appreciated. (or any thoughts on which one to get?)

Are there any newsgroups that deal specifically with this sort of equipment?

    Thanks!
    Rob

  2. No.... ;-)
I don't know the JVC, but the Sony has a good, neutral-pleasant, moderately-sharp
image with minimal motion-artifacting, good color, and (by current standards...)
good low-light range. See the PC9 images compared with other Sony imaging
types at www.ferrario.com/ruether/camcorder--comparison.htm (the Sony PC9,
TRV11, 17, 18, 19, and 22 all have the same picture...). The 22 is pleasantly tiny,
and I'm (sorta...;-) getting used to the touch-screen controls (I prefer buttons
and a wheel for controls). Look also at the TRV33 - it has a sharper image and a
bit better color, but less low-light range and higher picture contrast ("normal" vs.
    a bit o' "pizzaz"...;-).
    Try rec.video...

Just wondering - why not ebay?

Try amazon - they have some used items, too.

www.bhphotovideo.com has a used equipment section also.
    equipment?
