Nikon F100, SB-28 Flash. Party indoors, low lighting. Color prints,
    probably only 4x6.

Do I really need 400 film? I'd much rather go 200 or even 100 for
less grain. Mostly pictures of friends, not jumping around too much.
Using Nikon A2 filter for skin tone and daylight film.

Suggestions on film and filter needs?

    Thanks

Use the 400 speed film, you will pick up ambierant lighting in the
background and since your not going higher than 4x6's there is no need for
less ASA. Remember all your shots may not be with flash.

Yes, As a matter of fact 800 or 1600 is best for party stuff, it is
sensitive enough to light that you can shoot indoors.

don't forget that each level of film ISO is equivalent to one exposure stop.

so going from 200 to 400 speed film you can subtract one stop from shutter
speed e.g. go from 1/30 to 1/60 and maintain the same level of exposure, in
other words, in dar situations you have a greater range of latitude in
    shots.
