thinking of getting a cheap dv camera like the canon mv600i or
panasonic gs50 to use as deck (a camera with analouge in) and wondered
if anyone tried xpress dv with any of them or similar - i know avid
xpressDV is kind of fussy about hardware but wondered what are real
life reslts like... (i know that avid has a list on its web site but
its kind of small and limited to the more expensive cameras)
    cheers

I have used ExpressDV with over a dozen MiniDV cameras not on their list,
and thus far no problems. That's not to say it will definately work, but you
can always bring your camera to a DVExpress dealer's location and try before
    you buy.

  3. This list has only to do with specific deck-control. For cameras/decks
not on the list, you can always use the Generic template, which has a
minimum set of features for deck-control, which all camera's should
    support.

    cheers

  4. I use Express DV with a cheap Panasonic.
Make sure "deck polling" is turned off while doing a digital cut.
    Works fine.

"Digital Cut" for those who don't know the goofy Avid nomenclature is "Print
    to Tape".
