Yet another photo organization query!

Discussion in 'Digital Cameras' started by Gordon MacPherson, Nov 17, 2006.

  1. Hi,
I have saved all my photos (on HD and CDs)in folders that carry the date
and an informative title. I would like to be able to attach searchable
keywords to each folder(distinct from the folder name), not to
individual photo files, that will enable me to retieve folders including
particular subjects. I have MS Access, and have had a 1st go with this,
but it is not particularly user-friendly and I have Thumbs Plus but
cannot see how to do what I want with this.
    Can anyone advise me?

    Thanks,

    Gordon

  2. I'd take a look at Lightroom, an Adobe product that's currently in beta,
and hence free for now, till at least January. It is cross platform, a
plus in my book, but if you know you'll always use PCs, then it
wouldn't be much of a plus.

In your place I would drop Access and use CD Vista:
    http://www.gentibus.com/

It is free and it allows you to recall whatever folder or word, and more:
you check your thumbnails without reaching the CD on its shelf.
    Worth trying it.

  4. Thanks to all - CD- Vista fits my needs perfectly - ti will show a list
of folders on the disk and let you add keywords for each folder -
    seaching is very simple
