zoom slower than the slowest zoom speed?

I have a remote zoom control for my camcorder but even at the slowest
setting, it is still too fast in some situation.

Is there any LANC remote that would allow zooming slower than the camera's
    slowest zoom speed?

Perhaps this could be done by pulsing the zoom signal ( zoom, pause, zoom,
pause, ...) at a frequency high enough to appear smooth?

  2. I believe that is exactly how some of the 3rd party zoom
controllers work. Note that the ones which have good
low-speed performance sometimes cost more than the
    camera. :-( Check out www.varizoom.com, et.al.

have you looked at your camera set up options to make sure that the "slow"
zoom speeds are selected? moreover, once you plug a lanc cord in all bets
are off because often they have their own settings.
